(Newswire.net — January 5, 2018) Clare, IL — Leading puppy breeder and boarding facility B&C Kennels recently announced that it has partnered with Circle of Change, a Rockford, Illinois-based local organization that helps military veterans with disabilities. The breeder, also based in Illinois, plans to provide dog donations to the organization. The goal of the partnership is to help veterans overcome health issues like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), offering both companionship and service for these disabled veterans. The company has already matched two donated dogs, and reports indicates that both dogs and veterans are thriving in their new relationships. “Providing help for our country’s military veterans is something we hold close to our hearts,” says a spokesperson for the company, which is located in Clare. “By donating dogs to Circle of Change’s program, we’re making a difference in disabled people’s lives.” To learn more about the partnership, visit http://www.wifr.com/home/headlines/Circle-of-Change-Helping-Veterans-and-Dogs-360502331.html.

Once dogs are donated, the organization provides training for both the veteran and his or her new dog, encouraging the dog to take on a role as a form of service animal. This training is conducted at area canine academies in Loves Park, Rockford, and Madison. Participation in the program is free for veterans, and the training takes place over a 13-week period. Studies have shown that veterans in programs like this are more able to regain a sense of balance in their lives, even those with debilitating mental or physical health concerns. Veterans taking part in the program report a newfound confidence, helping them to engage with the communities in which they reside and even becoming mentors to other vets. Over the past eight years, Circle of Change has helped hundreds of service veterans through the program. B&C Kennel’s dogs are an integral part of the organization’s program. The breeder mostly focuses on poodle mixes, but also breeds a selection of purebred dogs, including French Bulldogs, Schnauzers, Yorkshire Terriers and Chihuauas. Once animals are retired from breeding, the Kennel donates them to rescue shelters after spaying or neutering.

In 2018, the Kennel will move much of its operations to neighboring King County, where expanded facilities will allow the company more room to expand its services. Currently, the Kennel operates private puppy meeting rooms on an appointment-only basis and boarding facilities in addition to its puppy breeding services.
